A portrait of Layla, who is the great granddaughter of Suzie Haskew, founder of the Village Fine Arts Association in Milford Michigan. My primary goal with all of my portraits is to create something emotional and powerful, and take it as far as it can go. I wanted to capture her carefree innocence and the feeling that, within her eyes, there is a vast ocean of hopes and dreams. Even though I don’t know Layla very well, it was a very emotional piece to create.
Prismacolor pencils on Strathmore 400 vellum 4 ply (front side of the paper!). 24"w x 18"h. Reference photos by me. Art Photo by Eric Law.
